The short version

This summary is not a substitute for the policy below — it is here so the detail is easier to navigate, not easier to skip.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how SiPDF handles information when you use the application.

SiPDF is an offline document reader and toolkit. It reads PDF files, and from version 2.0.0 it also displays Microsoft Word (.docx) and Excel (.xlsx) documents. It has no user account, no sign-in, and no backend service operated by us. Your documents are opened and processed on your device.

Statements in this policy about advertising, analytics and data collection describe the version named above. Section 14 explains how a future version that changes any of this would be communicated.

In this policy, "we" means Banana Technologies Incorporated, the publisher of SiPDF, and "you" means the person using the application.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information sent to us or to third parties

None.

SiPDF does not intentionally collect or transmit your documents, document contents, PDF passwords, or other personal information to SiPDF servers or to third parties. We operate no servers that receive information from the application.

This is not only a policy commitment. As described in section 6, this version of the application does not hold the Android INTERNET permission, so the operating system prevents it from making network connections at all.

2.2 Information stored locally on your device

SiPDF saves the following inside its own private application storage. This information stays on your device and is accessible only to SiPDF:

What is storedPurpose
Your app settings (theme, resume-last-page, keep-screen-awake)To keep the app working the way you configured it
Whether you have already seen the welcome screenSo the introduction is shown once and not on every launch
Your chosen display language, if you set oneSo the app keeps using it. Nothing is stored while it follows your device language
List of recently opened documentsSo you can reopen what you were reading
Documents you marked as favouritesSo you can return to them quickly
The type of each document you opened (PDF, Word or Excel)So the app reopens it in the right viewer
Your reading position in each documentSo a document reopens at the page you left
References to documents you have openedSo those documents can be reopened without asking you to select them again
A temporary working copy of an open documentRequired to display and modify the file (see section 9)

You can remove this information at any time:

Clearing or resetting does not delete your documents. Those are your files, stored where you keep them, and SiPDF does not remove them.

2.3 Information we do not collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, advertising identifier, device identifier, IP address, list of installed applications, usage analytics, session recordings, or the contents of your documents.

3. Your Documents

Your documents are processed locally on your device. SiPDF does not upload them to a remote server for viewing or processing.

PDF files can be read and edited with the built-in tools. Word (.docx) and Excel (.xlsx) documents can be read only: SiPDF displays their text and cell values and never writes to them.

Every tool in the application — merge, split, extract pages, delete pages, reorder, rotate, images-to-PDF, compress, and document information — runs on your device. No document is sent to any server for processing, at any time, for any feature.

Features that read the text inside a document, such as searching within an open PDF or displaying the text of a Word document, also run entirely on your device. The text is read from the file to display it or to answer your search, and is not stored as a separate index, transmitted, or retained after you close the document.

To open a document, SiPDF uses Android's own document picker. Android displays the picker, you choose a file or a folder, and the application receives access only to what you selected. SiPDF cannot browse or scan the rest of your storage.

4. Password-Protected PDFs

If you open a password-protected PDF, the password you enter is used locally to unlock that document for viewing. SiPDF does not intentionally transmit or store your PDF password, and it is not written to any log, file or diagnostic report. The password is held only for as long as the document is open.

5. Permissions

This version of SiPDF requests no Android system permissions. It does not request:

You can confirm this yourself under Settings → Apps → SiPDF → Permissions on your device, and on the application's Google Play listing.

One technical detail, stated for completeness. The application's manifest contains a single permission entry that Android's own support libraries generate automatically, named com.sidocs.app.DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION. It is defined by the application for itself, at signature protection level. Its only function is to keep an internal message receiver private to SiPDF so that other applications cannot send messages to it. It grants no access to your device, your files or any information, it is not shown in the Android permissions list, and it is not one of the permissions Android asks you to approve.

6. Internet and Network Access

SiPDF is designed to operate locally on your device and does not require an internet connection to read or process your documents.

In this version, the application does not declare the Android INTERNET permission. Without that permission, Android blocks the application from opening network connections. This means the absence of network activity is enforced by the operating system rather than resting on our assurance alone.

There is no telemetry, no remote configuration, no update check and no background network activity in this version.

7. Advertising and Analytics

This version of SiPDF does not display advertisements and does not include any advertising SDK.

This version of SiPDF does not use third-party analytics, attribution, crash-reporting or behavioural tracking services.

We do not build a profile of you, and we do not sell or share personal information for advertising or for any other purpose.

These statements describe the version named at the top of this policy. Section 14 sets out what happens if a future version changes this.

8. Third-Party Components

SiPDF uses open-source software libraries and components to provide document viewing, file selection, sharing and related functionality. These components operate as part of the application on your device.

In this version, none of these components is an advertising, analytics, attribution, tracking or crash-reporting service, and none of them transmits your information.

A complete list of these components and their licences is available inside the application under Settings → About SiPDF → Open-source licenses.

9. Device Storage and Temporary Files

During certain operations — opening a PDF, Word or Excel document, or running one of the PDF tools — SiPDF may create temporary working files in its private application storage. These files are used locally to perform the operation you requested and are not intentionally transmitted to us or to third-party servers.

Temporary files are removed when Android clears the application's cache, when you clear the app's storage from Android settings, or when you uninstall the application.

Device backup. SiPDF disables Android's automatic backup for its own application data, so the information described in section 2.2 is not copied off your device by that mechanism. SiPDF operates no cloud backup service of its own and does not upload your documents anywhere. Backups that you create yourself using other applications, or backups performed by your device manufacturer or another service, are outside SiPDF's control and are governed by those providers' own policies.

10. Sharing and Printing

A document leaves SiPDF only when you explicitly choose to share it, open it in another application, or print it.

Sharing and Open with. Android's share menu passes the file, and the type of file it is, to the application you select. That application is not covered by this policy. Once a document is handed to another app — email, messaging, cloud storage or another document reader — it is governed by that application's own privacy policy and terms. We have no control over, and no visibility into, what that application does with your file.

Printing. Printing is available for PDF documents. When you print, SiPDF hands the document to Android's own print framework, which passes it to the print service you choose. SiPDF does not communicate with a printer itself, and it does not need internet access to print: if you print to a network or wireless printer, the connection is made by the print service — a separate application supplied by your printer's manufacturer or by Android — under its own permissions and privacy policy.

11. Data Security

Because no information is collected or transmitted, there is no data held on any server of ours, no copy of your information in our possession, and nothing for us to disclose, sell or expose in a data breach.

On your device, the information described in section 2.2 is stored in the application's private storage area, which Android keeps isolated from other applications. It is kept until you clear it using the app's own settings or uninstall the application.

No method of storage is completely secure. The security of information on your device also depends on your device's own protections, such as your screen lock and system updates.

12. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, data protection laws may give you rights over personal information held about you. These include the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) in the Philippines, the GDPR in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, and the CCPA in California, among others. Such rights typically include access, correction, deletion, portability and objection.

In this version of SiPDF we hold no personal information about you, so there is nothing for us to provide, correct, export or delete on your behalf. The information described in section 2.2 is under your direct control on your own device and can be removed at any time using the application's settings.

If you have a question about any of this, contact us using the details in section 15.

EU/UK representative: Not applicable. No personal data is collected or processed, so no representative under GDPR Article 27 is required.

This policy is provided in English. Where a translation is offered, the English version governs in the event of a conflict.

13. Children's Privacy

SiPDF is a general-purpose document reader and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information at all.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be published on this page with a revised effective date and an entry in section 16.

SiPDF will receive updates over time, and a future version may handle information differently. Features that would change this policy include analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or an optional account or cloud sync.

If any future version of SiPDF introduces any of these, then in the same release that introduces it:

  1. This policy is updated with a new effective date and a change-history entry.
  2. The privacy information shown inside the application is updated to match.
  3. The Data Safety section of the application's Google Play listing is updated to match.

We will not introduce data collection without disclosing it, and we will not declare data collection that is not taking place. The statements in this policy are scoped to a specific version precisely so that a later version can differ without any part of this document having been inaccurate.

16. Change History

DateVersionChange
23 August 20262.0.0SiPDF now also displays Microsoft Word (.docx) and Excel (.xlsx) documents, read-only, alongside PDF. Sections 1, 3, 9 and 10 were broadened from "PDF" to "your documents" to describe this accurately. One locally stored item was added to section 2.2: the type of each document you opened, so it reopens in the right viewer. Nothing new is collected or transmitted — nothing is, and the release build still holds no internet permission.
16 August 20261.0.0Added two locally stored items to the list: the first-run welcome screen's "already seen" flag, and the display language if you choose one instead of following your device. No change to what is collected or transmitted — nothing is, and the release build still holds no internet permission.
15 August 20261.0.0Initial policy for the first public release.
